Heinz Well Service Video Interview
For this project, I interviewed Heinz Well Service and applied techniques I learned in my video production class. To prep before the interview, I planned out my questions and the different types of shots I wanted to get for b-roll – pans, tilts, close-ups, wide shots, etc. During the interview, I kept it as conversational as possible to help my subject feel comfortable.
I used Adobe Premiere to edit my video and audio clips. The subject used a lot of filler words, so I added fades over the audio to remove as many as I could while still keeping it natural. I was also intentional with what B-roll I put over audio clips, trying to match up relevant footage to what was being talked about when I could.
Front Page Newspaper Design for The Antelope
The process for creating this front cover started before I ever opened the design page. I took pictures at the event I knew we were featuring on the cover, so I shot photos with the front cover in mind. When I snapped this photo, I knew it had potential.
I placed the photo on the design page and started to plan its placement as well as the placement of the text. It was important to me that the viewer’s eyes go to the woman’s face first, and I also liked how the camera caught the lights in the background. I decided to place the text over the man’s back, as I’d lose the least amount of important information that way.
Also, I tucked the second deck of text in the heading so the “K” fit nicely under the “G.” This also added dimension to the page, so there wasn’t a straight line visually from the edge of the text decks and page number.
Website Design - Personal Portfolio
My media experience also includes website design, in programs such as Dreamweaver and WordPress. I created this portfolio website in WordPress, a content management system.
Creating this website took several moving pieces. I first purchased a hosting service and a domain name. Before starting design, I created a plan for my pages and gathered content. One part of this included creating a site icon I could include in the tab, header and footer.
I also downloaded plug-ins to ensure my site could run smoothly. When designing my portfolio, it was important to me to consider functionality and simplicity, while also maintaining a pleasing aesthetic.
